Far Ground is a 8.8 acre field in Cranham which we took possession of on 5th April 2023.
Far Ground is located adjacent to Buckholt Wood, part of the Cotswold Commons and Beechwoods AONB. It faces Cranham Common across the valley, an ancient unimproved limestone common and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) well known for its wild flowers. Far Ground is the same limestone brash soil structure as Cranham Common.

The field is primarily to be a home for our horses, but its location offers the opportunity for it to become a contributor to the conservation corridors within Gloucestershire, encouraging animals, insects and plants to move throughout the county to support the ecology and nature diversity. The field has been continuously grazed by horses for at least 40 years, and when we took possession at the end of the winter it was looking very poor and overgrazed. On the plus side, it has not been over managed and to our knowledge has not been sprayed with pesticides or improved in the last 20 years.
